To help them through their problems, you must answer a series of conversation choices with them a certain way, both in the Stray Sheep and on the Landings. It is possible to get them all in one playthrough. Please note you should also talk to them in the Stray Sheep and at the Landings when you can, even if it doesn't result in a conversation choice.
Below is a guide to every conversation you must have to obtain all six of these achievements; note the conversation choices with the random sheep are necessary to help everyone. There are many ways to help everyone, and this is just one possible path. Answering differently to some of the questions may or may not spoil the outcome.
Red text indicates the answers and actions needed to obtain the Everyday Hero achievement.
I saved everyone and got this achievement on my first playthrough... BUT I winged it the whole way. Often didn't answer the way this guide suggested. They were still saved.
That at least suggests there is a bit of leeway in which answers you give.
So now I've got to see if I can save all of them again... AND send 20 text messages... AND get the True Neutral ending... ALL in the same playthrough.
Doing well so far. Sent 20 text messages already on Day 5 and kept each day neutral alignment overall.
Spoke to everyone every day, and have balanced all answers that give Law/Chaos against each other. Nobody dead yet.
Wierd somehow i manage to save everyone except for Daniel and Morgan in my first playthroung and now Todd and Archie just keep dying in all my saves anyways i want this achievement so can i get this one if i just save Daniel and Morgan?
Lol. Everyone survived, except Justin, and I have no frikken idea why, lucky i had the achievement on my first go, he was the only that survived in that one...lmao.
Like someone said earlier, just making sure to listen to all of Justin's story ensures he survives. You have to talk to him every night at the bar and at certain point in one of the nightmare stages (I believe it's Night 7) when he's a little depressed.
It seems to me that survival of certain characters is dependent on a couple of different things and not just what you say, but could go either way: Justin's survival seems like it's dependent on talking to him or having helped the majority of the others survive. Getting Archie to survive seems like it's very dependent on whether or not Todd survives. For the other three characters it seems like a matter of just talking to them and telling them not to give up. Todd and Daniel it seems you have to be very careful with, though. Getting Morgan to survive seems to be the easiest one, I've found, since he has the most obvious choices for encouragement.
Oh, I'm definitely sure there is more to it than just this....I'd love to do a load of replays and figure out exactly what makes certain characters die and what is absolutely necessary for each to survive, but I haven't gotten the time yet. The guide is meant to be for getting them all in one go, so it's a bit extra work for those who are just trying to save individuals. But it does work, thankfully.
Hopefully later on I get the chance to dig into the mechanics of exactly what is needed -- I think it's basically exactly as you said, with Archie and Todd linked and so on. I can guarantee Justin doesn't need the others to survive....in my chaos playthrough, I killed everyone by saying the meanest things possible and not talking to them any other time, and Justin is the only one that survived. I think he just needs to be talked to, period. :)
I managed to kill everyone except Justin on my first playthrough, so he doesn't depend on the others. I didn't even answer his questions carefully, I just listened to his whole story.
Were you following the guide? Did you make sure to talk to them and the random sheep whenever you could in the Landings and bar? Sorry you lost them :(
The first time through, I lost only Morgan. I made sure to talk to everyone and tried to answer with the "Order" response. However, to save these guys, I believe it is imperative to get the order response in every situation that involves them. If you tell Archie he looks like a bad guy the first time you talk to him, you've set yourself back considerably (doing everything else like the time I saved him, he still ended up dead). As for Morgan, the key is to realize he's linked with Lindsay and Martha. My first playthrough, I told them I would rather watch golf at home - and I lost him because "Mister Morgan wouldn't say that". Everything else constant (talking to him in the bar (say "I guess I believe in an afterlife"), talking to him in the dreams, etc.), I told the ladies that I would rather watch baseball at home and volia, he was still around at the end.
I've noticed people seem to lose Todd and Archie a lot; I think they're pretty tightly linked, and it's difficult to save one if the other dies. Did you talk to both of them all the times the guide said, in the Landings and at the bar? Along with the random sheep?
At least with a replay you can see a different ending, and skip through (hopefully most of) the puzzles. :)
I went all the way to 7-3 until I noticed I had to speak to characters. Thanks a lot asshole who didn't red text everything critical to the achievement. If you're going to contrast important things in red, do everything. Thanks for wasting my fucking time the past two weeks, you ass.
Sorry about that: I thought it was clear 'speak to _____' was a required action in the guide, since speaking to anyone is optional at any time. I only marked actual choices as required. I appreciate you noting everything, hopefully it helps others in the future avoid the same issue. Thanks!

The point I am making is that anytime you put a big contrast of color (like red here for example), it draws attention to your eyes.
There is a reason why people tell you not to buy a red car because cops will notice you more often then any other car on the road who also break traffic laws.

Just wanted to let ya know; I went completely CHAOS and everyone still survived. Hip-hip hooray. I mean, I was nice to the patrons but I was a meanie to the random sheep and Katherine.
How do you mean? When you inspire them? If you inspire the random sheep, they help the main patron sheep (Morgan, Todd, Archie, Daniel, Justin) to survive and learn new techniques.
I'm just wondering, but during the game can you choose to completely be CHAOS and still save everyone? or will someone die? jw so I don't give myself false hope. :X
I'm pretty sure you can still be completely chaos, as long as you pick the few Order options necessary to encourage the patrons. If you're 100% chaos, everyone will die...I just found that out playing through the last time. ;)
I just wanted to say thank you SOO much. This guide worked great! everyone survived! super happy. I was so sad when Justin died on my first playthrough and Morgan my second. I found this and now they all live happily ever after (: woot.
Maybe, maybe not....it's not entirely clear what will cause them to die and what won't, just that this method guarantees they'll all live. If he's still alive where you are now in the game, I would just keep following the guide, he should hopefully be safe. Good luck!
I played through this without using a guide and there were some choices that, in this guide, that I didn't choose the "correct" answer with. I still got all the achievements for characters including Everyday Hero. Do you really have to answer with the correct choices because all I really did was talk with everyone I possibly could each day at the bar and the landings during the nightmares.
I did several bare-bones run-throughs of the game, and this was what worked for me at the minimum. Things to keep in mind: did you make sure you talked to all 5 characters every chance you got, in the bar and in the Landings? This includes days you have to wait in the bar until late for them to come in. Did you talk to Anna alone in the bar? Did you make sure to talk to all the random sheep that give choices? If you did all that, and answered the questions as above, everyone should live. Let me know.
@Saruthelemur, I'm going to safely assume that I still messed up somewhere and forgot to speak to one person. I'll be sure to talk to everyone on the landings and in the bar on my next playthroughs. If it doesn't work out, I'll let you know. Thanks
